Partners Help Conservation in Malaysia

June 8:
I work at Paya Indah Wetland Sanctuary in Malaysia, and my job involves managing habitat for waterfowl, especially purple swamphens and purple herons. I came across the Waterfowl 2000 (now Birdscapes) newsletter from your homepage and would like to be added to your mailing list.

June 21:
To my delight, I received your wonderful package this morning. It must have arrived at our head office some days ago, but since I work at the field station, it took an extra couple of days for someone to bring it here. Thank you once again for the impressively quick response and willingness to share such interesting information with the international like-minded community. We are at a rather early stage of developing a proper management plan for our wetland sanctuary and at this point we could do with all the help we can get.

Editors: It always gives your editors pleasure to see that the work being done by partnerships across North America is of interest to people everywhere who are also concerned about habitat conservation. By the way, "Paya Indah" translates as "Beautiful Swamp." (If you are wondering why a June e-mail message is in the Winter Issue, the letter came in too late to be included in the Fall Issue. The magazine has a long lead time.)
